We are proud of our independent roots and massively humbled by our success.  It is really a pleasure to be able to offer such an environmentally conscious product that aligns with our own values.

Rising ocean temperatures lead to coral bleaching.  This puts our magnificent Great Barrier Reef under stress, and shatters ancient ecosystems.

Marine heatwaves are a regular occurrence and add to the pressure from fishing waste, plastic excess and overfishing.  Choosing to use a stainless steel straw is a positive step in the right direction.

Trusting who you give your heart to - love fades, plastic is forever...

Climate change, driven mainly by burning coal, is heating our oceans and threatening delicate marine ecosystems that have evolved over millenia.

The rapid change in ocean temperature is beyond the scope of evolution - so species adapted for particular conditions fail to thrive.

Choose to Refuse Plastic

Making considered personal choices and choosing to reuse and refusing excessive plastic helps slow the destruction of natural habitats.

Marine sanctuaries and fish regeneration zones help ensure sustainability long term for our precious ocean animals and plants.

Australia can lead the way protecting our endangered marine life simply by becoming more aware.  Your choice to say no to plastic straws is not just a symbolic gesture.

Real change is made by thought leaders who lead the way - keeping our healthy oceans and coastal lifestyle safe for tomorrow.

Choosing to reuse your stainless steel straw has a real impact on fragile marine habitats across Australia.  Our oceans are not an endless resource, able to be mis-used without a lasting impact on our turtles, dolphins and endangered sharks.

Zero Waste Plastic Free

Australia's oceans are particularly special and worthy of our attention - as we are blessed with the richest, most diverse life on earth.

In 2020 it's time to take action.

Australia's oceans have the most diverse animal and plant populations on the planet.  More creatures call Australian waters home than any other country on earth.

Deadly accidental entanglement or ingestion of plastic straws is pushing species to the brink of extinction.  Everyday, our plastic waste is causing harm to oceanic wildlife.

Reusable Stainless Steel Straws Australia

Stainless Steel Straws Australia

Stainless Steel Straws are reusable metal drinking straws used to help end plastic pollution.  Plastic Straws are particularly toxic to the environment as they are not simple to recycle and they are easily spread about via the wind and water currents.  Also, plastic straws tend to be a minimal use item, in that they are used for virtually seconds before being a "waste product" for decades.

Plastic Straws are Hazardous

Stainless Steel straws have been shown to be hazards for marine life and seabirds especially.  Animals mistake the straw for a food item or it becomes entangled in their nostrils with devastating effects.

This image of a child alongside a turtle created from ocean waste is a powerful way of communicating how plastic lingers in our environment.

This image highlights how waste and refuse is overtaking the landmass.  Hopefully by bringing attention to this individuals will take action at the ballot box and vote for environment over financial kickbacks.

Plastic waste made into fish shapes.  The amount of fishing line and fishing nets lost and loose in the ocean is hidden - and just as huge.  Everytime people go fishing they cut loose fishing line and it stays to cut and cripple ocean life.  We encourage you to use stainless steel straws.

eco friendly list of ideas for less impact on the environment
Finding ways to work within eco-friendly lifestyle is the way to go.  Despite what people may say, taking individual efforts does make a difference and inspres others to follow your lead.

There are so many little ways to curate your lifestyle so you minimise harm on the environment.  It is no longer socially acceptable to live in a flagrantly wasteful manner.

Simple stickers like this help raise awareness - just as stainless steel straws help reduce plastic wastage.

Plastic Straw Ban Australia

Australia has made some steady progress towards banning single use plastic straws in retail and hospitality outlets.  Plastic straws are still offered and freely available at fast food locations and on the whole the average consumer continues to be comfortable using plastic straws.  But awareness is growing and the trending growth of reusable metal straws and silicone straws supports this.

Stainless Steel Straws is a young family business based in Merewether, New South Wales.  We are proud of our local roots and the fact that we are positively contributing to more eco-awareness.

Our Story in 100 words or less

I came to the zero-waste and plastic-free space after working through lots of personal development.  It was a natural progression to see how unhealthy foods impact on my family's health - and how an active outdoor life is the way to go.

So we sold our gourmet food and wine business and began exploring our options in the health and wellness space.  I trained in life coaching and meditation and was hosting mindfulness walks around national parks - but then stainlesssteelstraws.com.au came along.  We haven't looked back!

“Zero waste is not about complicating your life, but simplifying it. We were drowning in stuff, and I was tired of marketeers, that I had to put a stop to it. So the first step to zero waste is refusing what you don’t need. You need to learn to say no.”

Banning Straws in Australia

"Minimalism isn't about deprivation. I still buy that expensive Burberry trench coat that costs thousands of pounds because it's great-looking and great value... But I am more conscious of how I spend because I want to be free of physical, emotional and financial clutter. I'm paying attention to the ethos of buying products that are environmentally-friendly and made with fair trade practices. I'm careful about my purchases."

Cleaning Stainless Steel Straws

Cleaning Stainless Steel Straws is really straightforward.  In this helpful guide to cleaning reusable drinking straws, we'll demonstrate how a special cleaning brush and warm soapy water makes all the difference.

Even though you cannot see inside the bore of the straw, you can still be 100% confident you have cleaned your reusable drinking straw by following three simple steps.  It's important to remove every trace of the smoothie or juice you have been drinking so it does not impact on the next time you use your straw.

Rose Gold Stainless Steel Straws

Rose Gold Stainless Steel Straws

Rose gold is a mixture of yellow gold, copper and silver. The copper gives it a redder color than yellow gold naturally has.

The silver helps to tone down the redness of the copper, achieving a subtle pink shade.
Yes. When it comes to purity, rose gold is no different from yellow gold or white gold.

UK hallmarked 18K gold contains 75% gold. 9K gold contains 38% gold. This is regardless of whether the gold is white, yellow or rose gold in colour.

But, with Rose Gold Stainless Steel Straws, you are looking at something completely different.

THE FASHION INDUSTRY has a long history with rose gold, a color that exists somewhere between luxury and fashion. It's not as gaudy as gold, or as timeless. It goes in and out of style, and right now it's very much back in. In the consumer electronics world, especially, rose gold is enjoying its inaugural moment.

Color is hard to talk about without sounding like you've dropped acid, but people do associate colors with feelings and emotions. You can't quantify whether or why people like colors—"like" is so subjective a term—but you can determine what it makes them feel.

Leatrice Eiseman, a color expert and executive director of the Pantone Institute, the semi-deified experts on color, has seen this first hand.

two rose gold stainless steel straws bent

Rose Gold Reusable Straws

"There's a lot of research that goes into what color means," she says, "and how it makes a statement to most people." Rose gold has the same effect on almost everyone.

"When we get to the rose family, we get these same kinds of verbiage: Compassion, composure, warmth, something that draws you in that has great appeal."

Each winter, the Pantone Institute names its colors of the year, trying to capture what everyone is thinking and feeling within that color.

The video accompanying the 2016 selection of Rose Quartz, a kissing cousin to rose gold, and a shade of blue called Serenity, is particularly telling. It opens with a montage of desperately serious things: Protests, fights, riots, the word hashtag for some reason.

It feels like a subliminal brainwashing video, something meant to be felt, not noticed. Suddenly, the clouds part, the music slows, and the heartbeat of the video slows as Rose Quartz and Serenity fill the screen.

These colors, Eiseman says, are "an answer to the stress of modern-day lives. A yearning for reassurance."

Rose Gold Stainless Steel Cocktail Straws

The institute selected Rose Quartz because it wanted something that conveys a "sense of order and peace, something that speaks to people. Something that has a bit more mindfulness attached to it.

But the real beauty of rose gold is what it says about the world and why it's proven so popular. Consumers love it for the subliminal sense of peace and calm it provides in an increasingly hectic world.

Companies love it because it conveys opulence and comfort, two things that aren't easily communicated with a metal rectangle.

Ultimately, a rose gold stainless steel straw is more than a just a straw. It's a choice, a decision that says something about what you value. And "if it ends up not working out for you," you might say, laughing, "it’s not like you can't get another straw sometime soon..."

are stainless steel drinking straws safe

This is a pretty startling fact. We were shocked too.  That's why your wholesale bulk order can help change the world.

If that hasn't got you convinced, here are a few more reasons...

#plasticfree #reuse #zerowastehome #wastefree #nowaste

1. Reusables are more eco-friendly and sustainable. Plastic Never Goes Away. Every single use plastic straw that was ever made, still exists today in some form - it might be broken into smaller pieces, but it still is out there..

why use stainless steel straws

It has just broken down into smaller pieces. We sell straight straws.  Marine life and birds are now mistaking these little pieces for food. They can't digest the plastic in their stomach and end up in a lot of pain. Many birds and fish, even whales, are dying from eating plastic.

#zerowastelife #plasticfreejuly #livingwastefree #reducereuserecycle #sustainability

And ultimately, plastic has now made its way into the human food chain. So we are eating micro-plastics outselves.  Buying bent straws helps with it.

are metal straws bad for your teeth

2. Reusable Drinking straws - like They are healthier. Stop chewing on that petrochemical straw! BUY Stainless Steel Straws ONLINE Australia are non-leaching; there's no BPA, PVC, lead or phthalates.

3. They make drinks look ridiculously good - really luxury! Strong smoothie game, meet stronger smoothie game. Your drinks will look great, and you will attract admiring glances from curious passers by.

Here's a couple of things to get you started....

1. #refusethestraw when you are out. It's a bit of a tricky habit at the start but you get used to it and it shows businesses what their customers want.  By choosing to refuse, you set in motion the intent and begin to manifest a less wasteful consumer culture.  It might seem insignificant - but it changes things.

2. Use your Straight Straw, of Bent Straw as much as possible! Every time you use your Coloured Straws, you're saving a straw from going to landfill or ending up in the ocean. Over a lifetime, it's something like 38,000 less straws.  Plus, They are nicer to use and healthier than the disposable ones.

#greensmoothie #gratitude #kombucha #probiotics #superfoods #vegan #vegetarian #zen #yoga

3. Share your pics on social media. Spread the message far and wide! We can be the change for good!

1 - Know your why - why are your buying something?  Do you really need it?  Are you shopping because you are bored, or out of habit, or to keep up with a trend or your neighbours?

When you pause and question your why, often the delay itself leads to you refusing and not making the purchase.  There's a reason marketers have words like "impulse shopping" "up sells" and "cross sells" - and it is because they work.  You can just shake your head if you find it challenging to say the actual word NO.

how to clean stainless steel straws

2 - Focus on the process, not your progress.  Or, don't allow your idea of perfection hold you back from sharing your good efforts.

Look, no matter how hard you believe in the power of good intentions, your reduced plastic consumption will most likely not result in shrinkage of the great Pacific Garbage Patch.
We need to stop single use plastic straws.
